$12 an hour in Singapore: full-time and part-time pay
Reviewed by Radif Partners
Part-time hours and the CPF phase-in
$12.00 an hour is a common rate for part-time retail, food and event work, and at that rate the number of hours decides how CPF applies. Full-time, 44 hours a week, it gives $2,288 a month on MOM’s formula, with the usual 20 % employee CPF and a take-home of $1,831. At 20 hours a week, the month comes to about $1,040, above $750, so the full rates apply and the employee keeps $832. At 10 hours a week, wages of about $520 fall in the phase-in band between $500 and $750: the employee pays only $12 and takes home $508. At 8 hours a week, about $416 a month, the employee pays no CPF at all while the employer still contributes $71. None of these levels owes income tax, and all of them count towards the employee’s CPF accounts through the employer’s share.

Questions people ask
How much is $12 an hour per month in Singapore?
$2,288 a month for a full-time 44-hour week, using MOM’s formula of hourly rate × 52 × 44 ÷ 12, or $27,456 a year. After 20 % employee CPF, a citizen takes home $1,831 a month. Working 20 hours a week gives about $1,040 a month.
Does a part-timer on $12 an hour pay CPF?
It depends on monthly earnings, not the rate. Below $500 a month only the employer contributes; between $500 and $750 the employee share phases in; above $750 the full 20 % applies. Eight hours a week at $12.00 is about $416 a month, with no employee CPF; ten hours a week, about $520, is in the phase-in band.
Is $12 an hour above the Local Qualifying Salary?
The full-time equivalent, $2,288 a month, is above the $1,800 Local Qualifying Salary that applies from 1 July 2026. For part-time local workers, MOM sets an hourly equivalent for the quota computation; check the current figure with MOM if your employer counts you towards its foreign worker quota.
