$15,000 a month in Singapore: take-home pay and tax

Reviewed by Radif Partners

Just below the 18 % band

On $15,000 a month, a citizen aged 30 has a chargeable income of $159,800 for the year, a few hundred dollars short of $160,000, where the resident rate moves from 15 % to 18 %. Any bonus therefore falls into the 18 % band, and above $200,000 into the 19 % band. The YA 2027 bill without bonus is $13,920, an effective 7.7 % of salary. CPF takes $1,600 a month, the maximum since the ceiling, and take-home pay is $13,400. For someone on this salary, the $80,000 cap on reliefs starts to be relevant: CPF relief of $19,200, a full SRS contribution, top-ups and family reliefs can add up quickly, and anything above the cap is lost. The tax saved by each dollar of relief, 15 to 18 cents, makes the choice of reliefs worth planning.

Once the employer’s CPF share is removed, MOM’s June 2025 figures put the median full-time resident salary at about $4,900 a month and the 20th percentile at about $2,700. A salary of $15,000 a month is 206 % above the median of about $4,900, which places it in the upper half of full-time residents. These are estimates based on the published income figures, which include employer CPF. Average and median salary in Singapore.

Questions people ask

How much tax on $180,000 a year in Singapore?

$13,920 for YA 2027 on $15,000 a month without bonus, for a citizen aged 30. Chargeable income is $159,800, just under $160,000: $7,950 of tax on the first $120,000 and 15 % on the rest, so the income stays in the 15 % band.

What is the take-home pay on $15,000 a month?

$13,400 for a citizen or PR from the third year aged 55 or below, since CPF stops at $1,600 on the $8,000 ceiling. A foreign employee takes home the full $15,000 and pays $17,370 of tax as a resident, since without CPF there is no CPF relief.

Can I exceed the $80,000 relief cap on $15,000 a month?

Only with many reliefs. CPF relief is $19,200, SRS up to $15,300, cash top-ups up to $16,000, plus family reliefs. A parent with three children and dependent parents can approach $80,000; beyond it, extra reliefs give no further saving, so plan top-ups and SRS within the cap.
